Claude Toomey, Jr., 82, of Muncie, IN died Sunday April 20, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born on February 19, 1926 in Versailes, KY the son of Claude, Sr. and Alice Mae (Quire) Toomey. He attended Muncie Central High School. On May 24, 1945 he married Beverly L. (Lawrence) Toomey who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII. He was a member of the Halteman Village Baptist Church in Muncie. After 37 years of service he retired from Borg Warner. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and woodworking.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 63 years, Beverly Toomey; one daughter, Cynthia Gregory of Florida; one son, Randall Toomey (wife: Jeanne) of Muncie; one brother, George Wimmer of Florida; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mildred Duncan.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 24, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Dr. Ron Ross will officiate the service. Entombment will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
