Clella Imogene York, 93, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Clella was born on October 25, 1917 in Clarkrange, TN to the late Dr. Francis Joseph and Pansy Pearl (Conatser) Lockhart. Clella is a graduate of Clarkrange High School. On December 24, 1936 she married her love Olin Odell York.
Clella worked at Kim Paint for a few years. She later attended Ball Memorial Hospital LPN Program and became a Licensed Practical Nurse before becoming an employee of Ball Memorial Hospital. She was also an LPN for Owens, Illinois Company. As well, Clella was employed for Doctors John Cooper and K. William Koss for 16 years. Clella retired in 1975. Clella loved to browse, buy, and refurbish antiques and collect James Stratton Porter books. Clella was also a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church; a member of Delco Sympathy Club; loved her grandchildren to the fullest; and was a very passionate mother.
Clella is survived by her loving children: Roger O. York (Carolyn) of Muncie and Peggy J. Fuller (husband, Robert) of Austin, TX; brothers: Arthur Lockhart of Michigan and Harold Lockhart of Ohio; sister Jo Blan LaRue of Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Clella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Olin of 63 years; 2 brothers: Frank and Charles Lockhart; 2 sisters: Lunelle Ady and Doris Towns; and 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie as well as on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, February 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
