Cloia Deskins, 87, of Hartford City, died early Wednesday morning, October 29th, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born August 22nd, 1927 in Grundy, VA and was the daughter of the late Rev. Andrew & Priscilla (Stacy) Baker.
Cloia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whom loved to tell stories. She had an incredible memory, and enjoyed writing poetry and songs. Cloia was an inspiration to all she met and never knew a stranger. She was a lady who was strong in her faith; she was a 70 year plus member of the Mt.Carmel Church of Christ in Atwell, WV. Cloia had a strong faithful passion for the World Vision Mission. She enjoyed sewing and making anything from a dress to a tuxedo.
Cloia is survived by her three children; Franklin David Deskins (Susan May) of Fishers, Terry Wayne (Michele) of Hartford City, and Judy Lynn Dotterwich (Edward) of Hartford City; ten grandchildren, Angie Trigg (Chris) of Ft. Wayne, Regina Beth Nottingham of Fishers, Dennis Nottingham (Rachelle Starns) of Indianapolis, Daniel Nottingham of Morgantown, WV; Shawn Ruble (Chey) of Columbus, OH, Jared Ruble (Stephani) of Germantown, OH, Heather Roberts (Scott) of Muncie, Amanda Yanis (Mike) of Jonesboro, IN, Michael Deskins (Sarah) of Indianapolis, and Travis Deskins of Hartford City; ten great-grandchildren, Hannah, Erin, Eli, AJ, Jakob, Ethan, Emmerson, Reagan, Courteny, and Katie; a great-great grandchild Levi; a brother Jasper Baker (Jeanne) of Blountville, TN; and a special sister-in-law Mildred Baker of Blountville, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband G. Franklin Deskins in 2007; six siblings, Dolly, Ida, Martha, Harvey, Fred, and Basil.
Funeral Services for Cloia will be held Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Lex officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the World Vision Mission or the Little Red Door, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
