Curtis Eugene Bell, 78, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at The Woodlands in Muncie. Curtis was born on September 19, 1932 in Ulin, IL to the late Ulis Grant and Irene (Thomas) Bell. Curtis is a graduate of Douglas High School in Mounds, IL. Curtis served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. On June 22, 1957 Curtis married his love Sandra Almira Lyles in Muncie.
Curtis started with Delco Remy as a security guard and then moved onward to laboratory technician. He was employed with Delco Remy for 40+ years before retiring. Curtis was a member of Muncie''s Masonic Lodge as well as Bethel A.M.E. Church. He loved to tend his yard, flowers, and vegetable garden. Above all, Curtis will be sadly missed as being a well-rounded family man and the greatest grandpa his grandson could ask for.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife Sandra of nearly 54 years; daughter Kristin Bell of Indianapolis; 2 brothers: Bennie Bell and Sherman Bell (wife, Gwendolyn), all of Muncie; 2 sisters: Evone Lane (husband, Freddie) of Park Forest, IL and Jean Morris of Belleville, IL; grandson Tyler Eugene Bell of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Leola Hutchinson; Ruth Forbes; Clemotine Cornelious; and brother Ulis Granville Bell.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Robert Rhoades will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer''s Association and/or Bethel A.M.E. Church.
