Dale Edward Barrett, 94, of Muncie, passed away peacefully Friday January 22, 2010 at the Waters of Yorktown.
He was born in Ossian, IN on August 20, 1915 to the late Noah and Emma (Eschbacher) Barrett.
Dale lived in Lodi, OH as a child and moved to Parkersburg, WV where he graduated from high school. From there he moved to Fort Wayne where he married Frances (Fran) June Leisure and began a family.
After moving to Muncie, he went into the automobile business, both retail and wholesale. He retired in the 1980''s but continued to work part-time for Adsit Company.
Dale and Fran loved to travel, spending their winters in Florida and Mexico.
His parents, his loving wife Fran, a sister, four brothers and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Unger (husband: John) of Oldsmar, FL, Donald Barrett (wife: Nanette) of Carmel, IN and Ronald Barrett (wife: Sharon) of Muncie; his grandchildren, David Unger (wife: Karen), Sharon Unger, Julie Benslay (husband: Chad), John M. Unger (wife: Erika), Brenda K. Barrett, Donald J. Barrett, Tyler Barrett, Robin Leek (husband: Jay) and DeAnna Pitzer (husband: Shannon) as well as thirteen great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 26, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Rev. Rodney Eiler of Mount Olive Community Church will officiate. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Because of his great love of family and children, memorials can be made in Dale''s honor to Riley Children''s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
