Dallas Leon Williams' Obituary
Dallas Leon Williams, 78, of Olney, IL, passed away Friday afternoon, January 22, 2010, at the Burgin Manor Health Care Center, following an extended illness.
He was born on June 20, 1931 at Blountsville, Indiana, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Chalfant) Williams.
Dallas graduated from Center High School in Perry Township in 1949. Dallas married Donna Faye (Redding) Williams in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1981. In 1982 Dallas married Sarah Williams.
He had retired from Chevrolet Hydromatic, now known as New Venture Gear, as an assembly line laborer for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Williams was a farmer and did custom combining for several years. Dallas also dealt in antiques and refinishing furniture for several years.
He was a 50 year member of the Whitney Lodge #229 of the Free and Accepted Masons at New Burlington. Mr. Williams was a Past Patron of the Eastern Star at Mooreland, Indiana and a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club. Dallas attended the Buck Creek Church near Mooreland, Indiana.
Survivors include ex-wife and care giver, Sarah Williams, Robinson, Illinois; one daughter, Cynthia Jo Cline (husband-Bruce), Hiawassee, Georgia; one step son; Michael F. Fowler (wife-Linda), New Palestine, Indiana; one grandson, Presley Smith, Hiawassee, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Dale Redding (wife-Margaret), LaGrange, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Donna; one aunt, Ursel Chalfant.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary, with Pastor Perry Meade officiating.
Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
Masonic rites will be rendered on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., with members of the Whitney Lodge performing ceremonies.
Memorials may be made to Haiti relief through the Salvation Army, 1015 N. Wheeling Ave. Muncie, Indiana 47303.
