David LeRoy Boyle, Sr., 70, of Inverness, FL and formerly of Muncie, died Thursday afternoon, November 6th, 2014 at his home in Inverness. He was born October 15th, 1944 in Muncie, IN and was the son of the late Cleo & Violet (Shockley) Boyle.
David proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, United States Army National Guard, and the United States Air Force. He retired in 1984 from Delco Battery in Muncie, after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Wilbur A. Full Masonic Lodge #744 of Muncie, where he was Past Master for two years, a member of the Murat Temple of Indianapolis, Murpah Shrine Club of Muncie, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf. David was a born again Christian in 1986, and a member of the United Methodist Church.
David is survived by his wife Susan K. (Shappell) Boyle of Inverness, FL; his son David L. Boyle, Jr. of Muncie; his daughter Diana L. Bertram (Derrick) of Muncie; three grandchildren, Michael Bertram (Ashley) of Muncie, Jessica Bertram of Muncie, and Mitchell Bertram (Cherica) of Wyoming; two great grandchildren, Cole and Alexis Bertram both of Muncie; two sisters, Shirley Foster (Michael) of Muncie, and Jayne Gehle (Jeff) of Brownsburg, IN. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jacqueline Boyle in 2010; a grandson David L. Boyle, III; two sisters Janis Sorrell and Barbara Kistler; a brother Joseph Boyle.
Funeral Services for David will be held Friday, November 14th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Marine Corps, and the Delaware County Honor Guard in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Lodge of Sorrow Service will be conducted by the Wilbur A. Full Masonic Lodge #744. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
