David Ishmael Walters, Sr., 77 of Muncie, died Tuesday morning, February 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 7, 1939 in Muncie and was the son of the late Ishmael & Georgia (Cooper) Walters.

David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from Westinghouse Electric in 2002 after 36 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Fountain Square United Methodist Church. David proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

David is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Carolyn (Cordle) Walters of Muncie; two sons David Ishmael Walters, Jr. (Lisa) of Selma and Steven Scott Walters (Mary) of Indianapolis; four daughters Sandra Sue Walters, Devon Denise Gregory (Ryan), Crystal Lynn Walters, and Leah Dawn Walters (David) all of Muncie; twelve grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, Michael, and Jessica Walters, Kristopher, Josef, Mattisyn Baker, Kayleigh and Sydnee Copeland, Mason and Ashlyn Gregory, and Quinnleigh Walters; a sister Evelyn Elaine Wegisin "Cookie"(Danny) of Muncie.

Funeral Services for David will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Emory Reece officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
