Della M. Wehmeyer, 82, of Muncie, passed away at 5:23 am, on April 8, 2026, in her home. She was born in Hartford City, Indiana, on August 19, 1943, to Charles E. and Sarah C. (Stith) Freeman. She married John Wehmeyer on June 24, 1978, and he survives.

She worked for City Rexall in Albany and then returned home to take care of her family.

Della was a great nurturer, tending to everyone as a mother, and was quite the quintessential homemaker. She had a talented green thumb and took pride in her indoor house plants. She enjoyed hosting for family and friends cooking up everyone’s favorite dish, but don’t dare add any more spices. She really was the perfect chef. In her earlier years she made beautiful crotchet pieces. She loved collecting elephants and fox decorations, dedicating an entire room.

She is survived by her husband, John Wehmeyer; children, Julie (Daniel) Myers, Todd (Doshia) Wehmeyer, Tracy (Linda) Wehmeyer, Tia Dodds; grandchildren, Amber Stillwag, Mark Dodds, Amanda Armstrong, Kevin Piercy, Kraig Piercy, Ashley Watts, Michael Wehmeyer, Jonathan Wehmeyer, and Jordan Dodds; great-grandchildren, Britney Logan, Kira Morris, Josie Armstrong, Gabby Armstrong, Jonathan Piercy, Miley Piercy, Matthew Piercy, Korbin Piercy, Halea Kenipe, McKenzie Dodds, Gracelynn Dodds, Maverick Dodds, Tymon Wehmeyer, Aiden Wehmeyer, Londyn Wehmeyer, Darrion Cook, Addison Cook, Klover Marner, Cassidy Wehmeyer, Gunner Wehmeyer, and Emberly Bassett; great-great grandchildren, Jayden Logan, Tessa Logan, Cyrus Kenipe, and Quinn Kenipe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William “Randy” Dodds; daughter, JoEllen Dodds, brother, Jack Moore; sister, Bonnie Quarbe; grandchildren, Michael Ray Piercy, Derek Randall Dodds, and Christopher Wehmeyer.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.

A service to celebrate Della‘s life will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Fuller officiating.

Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
