Delmar E. Roundtree, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in California.
He was born to William S. and Hazel A. Roundtree in Princeton, Indiana on September 6, 1929. He resided in Muncie, Indiana for over sixty years before moving to San Leandro, CA in 2008.
Delmar attended school at Lyles Station in Princeton, IN. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and attended Ball State University. He worked part-time in custodial services at Ball State University and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Muncie after forty-years. Following retirement, he worked as a parking attendant at Industrial Trust Bank and as a front desk attendant at the downtown Muncie YMCA for several years. He was a member of Fountain Square Church.
Delmar leaves to cherish his wife of sixty-two years, Verniece Roundtree; two sons, O.J. Roundtree of Alameda, CA and Maurice Roundtree (wife, Myrna) of San Diego, CA; one granddaughter, Marifer of San Diego, CA; one sister, Etolia Morrow of Muncie; two nieces, Zenobia Faulkner (husband, Ernest) of Toledo, OH and Ermalene Faulkner (husband, Edgar) of Muncie; one nephew, Michael S. Sims (wife, Marianna) of Scottsdale, AZ; one sister-in-law, Miriam Roundtree of Muncie; four great-nephews; two great-nieces; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ermal S. Roundtree.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at The Faulkner Mortuary, 915 E. Willard St., with Pastor Steve Graces officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Heart Association can be made in his memory.
