Deloris "Dee" A. Howell, 81, of Hartford City, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Blackford Community Hospital.
She was born on May 1, 1928 in Hartford City to the late Consto R. Kelsay "Dick" and the late Hazel M. (Miles) Kelsay.
Dee graduated from Petroleum High School in 1946. She also went to Amber's Beauty School.
She married Alva Lewis Howell, Jr. "Lou" on May 1, 1947 in Muncie. He precedes her in death on March 21, 1990.
Dee was a Beautician and she was the Owner-Operator of Dee's Beauty Shop in Hartford City until she retired. She had formerly worked at Boston Store in Hartford City on the square before going to Beauty School. She moved to Bluffton after her husband, Lou, died to be closer to her sister, Idella Hunt.
She was an avid doll collector and loved flowers and bird watching.
Dee will be sadly missed by her sister, Idella M. Hunt of Bluffton; sister-in-law, Freda Hoover of Hartford City; fourteen nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Elmo G. Kelsay, Charles Frank Kelsay; sister, Alice L. Kelsay; sister-in-laws, Leota Upp and Betty Louise Howell.
Visitation for Dee will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 and from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Keplinger Funeral Home with Rev. Steve High of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating.
Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
