Delsworth Whittenburg, 83, of Muncie, IN, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital, in Muncie. He was born on October 5, 1925 in Delta, OH to the late Oscar and Mary (Thomas) Whittenburg.
Delsworth served in the Army during WWII. He received the Purple Heart for his duties. Delsworth was then employed by Ball State University as a custodian for many years.
Surviving relatives include his loving sons and daughter, Michael Whittenburg; Ron Whittenburg (wife: Cris); and Lynn Bender (husband: Tom), all of Muncie, IN; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Delsworth was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 43 years, Irene (Manis) Whittenburg; daughter, Carol Hinshaw; brother, Malcolm Whittenburg; and sisters, Roxie Hawn and Lillian Whittenburg.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Per the family''s request, there will be no visitation.
