Derek Randell Dodds, 35, of Muncie, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2020 in his home.

Derek was born in Muncie on September 9, 1985 to William R. Dodds and Tawny L. (Wallace) Ciempola. Derek was kind hearted and welcoming to everyone. He lived by the moment and was always the one in the room trying to get you involved in whatever was happening – always with a smile. Derek enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. Most of all, Derek loved to go fishing with his son.

Derek will be sadly missed by his son, Derek R. (DJ) Dodds, Jr.; son's mother, Samantha; son's  grandmother, Tammy; father, William R. Dodds (Kim); mother, Tawny Ciempola (Dave); special person, Spring Reed; three brothers, Mark Dodds (Alissa), Josh Dixon, and Eric Ciempola (Brittany); two sisters, Jena Ciempola and Brandy Brown (Jeremy); grandparents, Della Wehmeyer (John), Nancy Hoffman, and Janine Wallace; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Derek was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Dodds, Bob Hoffman, and Terry Wallace; uncle, Johnny Wallace; aunt, Jo Ellen Dodds; and special friend, Vilma (Vee) Vasquez.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Heekin Park, Muncie in Cabin #3.
