Donald R. Barker, 54, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 12, 2010 at his residence.
He was born September 21, 1955 in Seymour, the son of Raymond and Mary (Scott) Barker, moved to Muncie as a child and attended Southside High School.
Donald was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. He loved camping, boating, hunting, and his dogs.
Mr. Barker never had much to give materially, but what he did have, he gave wholeheartedly. Possibly the best gifts he ever gave were the values he instilled in his two boys, and the deep love he most assuredly felt for them both.
Surviving are his wife, Julie Barker; two sons, David Barker (wife, Kristy Spurlin), Oklahoma City, OK and Nicholas Barker, Dandridge, TN; two step-daughters, Tiffany Young, Muncie and Megan Campbell, Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Drew Young, Hayden Fultz, and Paige Roberts; a sister, Gloria Jefferson (LaRue Cross), Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joyce Keller.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
