Donald R. Cassel, 80, of Parker City died early Friday morning June 8th, 2012 at AMG/IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born August 17th, 1931 in Muncie, IN and was the son of the late George & Mamie (Glaze) Cassel. On April 22nd, 1951 he married his love, Adelene (Ellis) Cassel whom preceded him in death on September 19, 2010. Donald was a lifelong farmer in Parker City area. He enjoyed raising vegetables and sweet corn that spanned over three generations. His family was his pride and joy. He had been employed by Over Myer Mould Works, Chevrolet in Muncie, and was a school bus driver for Monroe Central School Corporation. He was a member of the Parker City United Methodist Church and the Parker City Masonic Lodge and Lions Club. Donald is survived by his loving children; Kathie Allee (Ron) of Richmond, and Greg Cassel (Dee Dee) of Parker City; three grandchildren Abby Wagner (Andrew) of Farmland, Cale Cassel (Laci) of Carmel and Regan Allee of Indianapolis. He also has two step-grandchildren Holly Poe (Mike) and Kim Strang (David); great-grandchildren, Ariana, Max, Cora, Callie, and Ada. Donald has two brothers Harold Cassel and Robert Cassel; four sisters, Betty Chalfant (Dick), Rosie Cassel, Jacqueline Helm, and Shirley Shaffer (Sam); several brother and sister-in-laws; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters Arlene McCarty and Delores Morris. Funeral Services for Donald will be held Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends and family may call Monday, June 11th, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
