Donald W. Dawson, age 85, passed away on October 21st, 2023 at his residence in Muncie, Indiana, surrounded by his family.

Donald was born on September 23rd, 1938 in Lafayette, Indiana and was the son of the late Theodore Dawson and Cleon May Elsea Dawson.

Donald graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana.  After graduating high school, he joined the US Navy and served on the USS Everglades.  He was a printer for the Muncie StarPress and Precision Printing in Muncie, Indiana for several years.

Donald was an avid golfer at several area golf courses and also loved playing cards.  He also loved playing cornhole and even built cornhole boards.  He enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Purdue Boilermakers.  He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS and was also a member of the Moose Lodge 33.  Spending time with his family was something Donald always enjoyed and he was a wonderful happy, father, and grandfather.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Dawson; three sons, Bret Dawson (wife Tyra), Bart Dawson (wife Amy), and Robert Dawson; one daughter, Susan Dean (husband Steve); a brother-in-law, John Rubright; a sister-in-law, Lois Dawson; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and his Yorkie, DJ.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Dawson and Cleon May Elsea Dawson; one brother; and three sisters.

A visitation will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, also at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Ellis officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Delaware County Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF), 1209 W Riggin Rd, Muncie, IN 47303.
