Donald Friend, 63, of Muncie passed away Saturday October 6, 2012, at his residence. He was born August 4, 1949 in Anderson, Ind. to Howard E. and Martha D. (Galbraith) Friend. Donald was a butcher at Cox Supermarket for 26 years. He was a member of Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Dunkirk and also of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) 1771 in Alexandria. Survivors include his companion Violet Edmondson of Muncie; children Doug Shelton and Kim Dawson both of Muncie, and Missy (Steve) Chapman of Monroeville, Ind.; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers John Friend of Orestes, Ind. and Ron (Teresa) Friend of Tipton, Ind.; 2 sisters Jeannie (Bruce) Horn of Brownsburg, Ind. and Andrea (Mitch) Funk of Pendleton, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Howard and Martha Friend and a son Tony Phillips. Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday October 10, 2012 at The Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie.
