Donald H. Hitchcock, 83, of Yorktown, IN died Saturday September 19, 2009 at The Waters of Yorktown in Yorktown, IN. He was born on August 3, 1926 in Randolph County, IN the son of Perry S. and Edith C. (Holt) Hitchcock. He graduated from Stoney Creek High School. On May 29, 1948 in Parker City, IN he married Edna M. (McCoy) Hitchcock who preceded him in death on January 15, 2005.
He was a member of the Hazelwood Christian Church. He was a boy scout leader for several years and enjoyed traveling with his wife each year to Florida. He also enjoyed sports. He worked at Borg Warner and retired in 1988 after 42 years of service.
Surviving relatives include his three sons, Monte Hitchcock (wife: Kendra) of Muncie, IN; Bill Hitchcock (wife: Cheri) of Yorktown, IN; Bob Hitchcock (partner: Paul Thompson) of Houston, TX; one sister, Marylee Pope of New Castle, IN; one brother, Jay Hitchcock of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Heather Bath (husband: Anthony) of Indianapolis, IN; Adam Hitchcock of Washington D.C.; Alex Hitchcock of Bloomington, IN; Sarah Hitchcock of Muncie, IN; one great-grandchild, Jacob Richards; three sisters-in-law, Janie Turner of Yorktown, IN; Roma McCoy of Anderson, IN; Charline Hitchcock of Farmland, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 22, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday before the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
