Obituary

Donald E. Pittenger, age 77, Albany, died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, April 7, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Don was born at home in Delaware County on December 6, 1930. He graduated from Albany High School in 1948 and was United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1990 after working 40 years at Warner Gear, Muncie. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Albany, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, and the Shrine in Indianapolis. Don enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, and in earlier years he was quite a craftsman having built several model airplanes and boats.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bernice J. Pittenger; a brother, Francis "Bud" Pittenger (wife: Sue), Albany; a nephew, Timothy Pittenger, Muncie; a niece, Julie Hamilton (husband: Don), Cape Coral, FL; and a great-niece; Holly Hamilton, Cape Coral, FL.
His parents, Howard and Thelma, are deceased. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
