Donald James Poland of Dunkirk, Indiana passed away at the age of 95 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, Indiana the afternoon of Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born on February 2, 1926 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Fredrick A. and Dora (Conner) Poland.
After graduating from high school, Donald served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Virginia Davis in the summer of 1950 in Muncie, Indiana. Donald worked as a Machine Operator at Borg Warner for 30 years until his retirement. He was also a farmer and a member of the Eaton First Church of God in Eaton, Indiana. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Donald is survived by one son, Douglas J. Poland (Robin) of Dunkirk-Albany, Indiana; one daughter, Deborah L. Osborn (Victor) of Avon, Indiana; two brothers, Richard Poland (Barbara) of Muncie, Indiana and William Poland (Jayne) of Selma, Indiana; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick A. and Dora (Conner) Poland; his wife, Virginia (Davis) Poland; and one brother, Robert Poland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with memorial services immediately following at 7:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Robin Wood and with Military Honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.gardenviewandgardensofmemory.com .
COVID-19 Limitations: Effective Monday, February 8, 2021, Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery are limited to a maximum of 50 people wearing masks. Once the maximum is reached, additional visitors will be permitted for entry only as others exit. Again, masks are still required at both locations.
