Donald E. Rahe, 80, left his earthly home to be with his Lord and loving wife, Marjorie on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Ball Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Rahe was born January 6, 1929 in Muncie, the son of George J. and Mary H. (Singer) Rahe Sr. Donald graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1947. He married the love of his life Marjorie Jackson on April 6, 1951 in Muncie.
Donald served as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army with the 5015 Medical Detachment during the Korean War.
Donald retired from Harlan and Associates as a Land Surveyor. He enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, painting, spending time with his family and grand pets, and being outdoors. Mr. Rahe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Muncie.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Marie Kelly (husband -Thomas), Alexandria; Donna Rahe, Muncie and Amanda Louise LaSpina (husband-Mark), Muncie; one sister, Theresa Burtner, Muncie; five grand pets, Smokey, Cream Puff, Pepper, Phoebe and Sophie.
He was preceeded in death by his wife of 54 years Marjorie; three brothers, George Rahe Jr, Richard Rahe and James P. Rahe; two sisters, Mary Frances Perkins and Helen Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Alex Paternoster and Father Andrew Dudzinski officiating.
Burial will follow at the Garden's of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, with Military Honors by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of the services.
All immediate and extended family members are welcome to attend services. No public visitation will take place.
