Donald Lee Sherwood, 73, of Muncie, died Sunday evening, February 2nd, 2014 at Elmcroft Senior Living. He was born September 22nd, 1940 in Muncie, and was the son of the late Harry L. & Elizabeth (Harley) Sherwood.
Donald was a graduate of Muncie Central High School Class of 1959, he loved Nascar Races, and going to races at Anderson Speedway. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time at the family lake cottage in Wolcottville, IN, that he and his father built. Donald was a member of the Forest Park Church of the Nazarene. He retired from Borg Warner in 1995 after 35 years of service, and was a member of the Local UAW # 287.
Donald is survived by his four children, Troy Sherwood (Patty) of Wausau, WI, Kent Sherwood (Loretta) of Muncie, Kellie Sherwood Ingram (Jason) of Selma, and Westley Sherwood of Muncie; seven grandchildren, Christopher Sherwood, Kenny Sherwood (Sharissa), Tara Beatty, Audrey York, Samantha Ingram, Tyler Sherwood, and Allison Sherwood; four great-grandchildren; a brother James Sherwood (Evelyn) of Muncie; former wife and special friend Kay Sherwood; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Belinda Sherwood in 2004.
Funeral Services for Donald will be held Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor David Delk officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday, February 6th, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to ARF (Animal Rescue Fund) or the Alzheimer''s Association with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
