Donald was born January 27, 1937 in Baxter, Kentucky to Emery and Edith Howard Stewart. Don loved his family dearly, about as much as he loved Pizza King. He served in the United States Air Force and was a huge supporter of all military veterans.


Don worked as a Nursing Home Administrator for the Delaware County Home alongside his wife for 15 years. He faithfully attended South Side Church of the Nazarene in Muncie with his granddaughter, Courtney and her family. His pride and joy was his great grandson, Parker. Don is known for being an ornery jokester. He would do anything for a laugh or smile! He was one of the kindest men you'd ever meet.


Don met his sweetie, Helen on a hot summer day in Harlan, KY and were wed on October 13, 1963. Don was a member of the Selma American Legion for over 40 years and a very proud Kentucky Colonel.


Don was preceded in death by his grandparents: John Lee and Jonah Stewart; Greenberry and Addie Howard; his parents, his wife, stepson Gordon Creech, and many of his siblings.


Don is survived by his stepson, Neal (Cathie) Creech, his granddaughters, Courtney (Pierson) Quinn, Katie (Josh) Moertl, Tina (Neal) Riemen, Summer (Jason) Tabor, and grandson, David (Willow) Riddle, nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.


Don was blessed to have many friends throughout his 86 years. Specifically, Bill Fields and Kathy Hensley that he met while working at the 12th Street Cafe.


Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Funeral Home. Interment will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. up until time of service.
