Baker
February 1, 1930 – July 8, 2022
Donna Maria Baker, 92, passed away on July 8, 2022 at her residence of Muncie Estates. She was born on February 1, 1930 in Adrian, MI and grew up in Utica, NY. Had lived in Muncie since in 1959. She was the daughter of the late Donald C. and Betty "Hershee" Schomp.
She received her nurses training in NYC and she retired after 29 years as a Nurse Manager of BSU Health Center in 1989.
As Many of you know she was never content unless she was helping others. She was very active in many roles as a volunteer.
She taught Cribbage at the High Street Methodist Church. She harvested her yearly tomato seeds and continued her husbands excellent talent for growing phenomenal tomatoes. Most days you would find her doing what she loved best, which would be volunteering in various positions and departments at Ball Memorial Hospital. She spent several years volunteering at in patient and out patient oncology, the Cancer Center Research Department, The Imaging Center desk at the Mammography Department which she jokingly referred to as the "Boobie Bar."
The patients appreciated her sense of humor, compassion and beautiful smile. To this day there are still patients asking about her well being. She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. Us Children were able to bring home almost any type of creature including a wild goose that "followed us home" from the White River.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 48 years Joseph M. Baker, One sister Adrienne Kurowski and Daughter-in-law Joan Baker.
She is survived by her son Charles E. Baker (Warsaw, In). 2 Daughters Joellen Sipahigil and Patricia M. Baker (Troy Sterling). 1 Grandson Joshua Joseph Sipahigil, 2 nieces Kathleen Kurowski-Semproni, Diane Skibinski.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Muncie Estates for the excellent care they gave to our mom over the last few years. Also a very heartfelt thank-you to Paradigm Hospice. Each and everyone of you who cared for our mom will forever hold a special place in our heart.
Calling will be on Saturday July 23, 2022 at Garden View Funeral Home at 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Committal service will be at 1:30 P.M. at Gardens of Memory with Chaplin Tobby Smith officiating. There will be a gathering at JoEllens place of residence following the Committal.
