Doris E. Bailey, age 94, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Bethel Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Cleo and Anna Donat. Doris married Russell Bailey on July 30, 1950, in Rome City. Russell preceded her in death on July 13, 2013.

Doris had a passion for painting and drawing, enjoyed working on puzzles, and loved gardening while soaking in the outdoors. She was also known for her delicious cooking and baking, especially her famous meatloaf, pumpkin roll, peanut butter cookies and cherished family gatherings.

She currently attended Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Selma, IN where she felt very loved and cared for.  In her earlier years she also attended Industry Methodist Church and Farmland Methodist Church where she was involved in United Methodist Women.  She had a very big heart for the disabled and served as a volunteer and teacher's aide at Hillcroft Services in Muncie.

Doris is survived by her three daughters: Deborah Richie, Sandra (Doug) Meranda, and Janet (Barry) Earley; son James Bailey; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Cleo and Anna Donat, her loving husband Russell, daughter Susie Rose, grandson Gabe Jester, and brothers Walter Donat, Herbert Donat, Larry Donat, Cleo Jr Donat, and Richard Donat.

Friends may call on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. Indiana 3. Funeral services for Doris will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
