Doris Estella Beckham, age 74, of Muncie, passed away July 11, 2011. She was born May 27, 1937 in Muncie to Charles and Elizabeth (Langdon) Underhill. Doris was a graduate of Royerton High School, Class of 1954. On August 27, 1954 she married the love of her life, William Thomas Beckham, and they enjoyed a grand life to together until his passing on July 11, 1991. There are no words that describe Doris, nor how much she did in her lifetime for others. She retired from Ball State University and her interests included her flowers, fishing, and most of all, her family.
Doris is survived by her son Kim (Barbie) Beckham of Bowling Green, KY; daughters, Connie (Bill) Dean of Albany, IN, Patricia (companion Butch Corn) Matney of Yorktown, IN and Brenda Beckham of Muncie; brothers, Moral (Peggy) Underhill of Muncie and David Underhill of Warsaw, IN; one sister, Nancy Dawson, of Marion, IN 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was prceced in death by her parents, husband and son in law Walter Matney.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie 47303, with Rev. Chris Black officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday July 14 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
