Doris J. Fivecoats, 84, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born April 15, 1925 in Darke County, OH, the daughter of Russell and Mary Edith (Carter) Starr, moved to Muncie as a child and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1943.
Mrs. Fivecoats was employed at Whites Grocery, Covalt Dairy Central Indiana Gas Company, and was the manager of Imports and Otherwise on North Walnut Street, prior to her retirement in 2000.
She was a member of the Century Dance Club and Greenhills Country Club.
Surviving is her son, Greg Fivecoats, Muncie; her daughter, Lori Finn, Fishers; three grandchildren, Alex Fivecoats, Jack Finn, and Lorin Finn; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Proctor, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loring H. Fivecoats; a brother, Max Starr; and a sister, Betty Bartlett.
Services will be held in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday or one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
