Dorotha Marceline Tremaine Ritchie, age 103, departed this life late Saturday, March 12, 2022 at her home, loving family by her side. Dorotha was born near Gaston, October 29, 1918 to Charles and Arlis (Woodring) Tremaine and on September 15, 1940 married Ward Merwood (Bub) Ritchie.
Dorotha worked briefly at the Worth Glove factory in Alexandria and the Gaston Canning Company before becoming the care-giver of Lincoln and Nettie Larue also of Gaston.
Mr. Ritchie built their home on the Yorktown-Gaston Pike with the help of relatives, immediately following their marriage in 1940 and the couple lived in that home their entire lives, both passing away beneath its roof.
Mrs. Ritchie is preceded in death by her parents as well as sister Helen Amelia Broyles of Gaston and brother Charles Lavon Tremaine of Muncie.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice Care for their dedication and kindness.
Services will be conducted at Garden View Funeral Home at 1 p.m. home on Saturday, March 19th 2022, with Rev. Jerry Hobbick of the Gaston Church of the Nazarene officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
