Dorothy Elaine Nixon, 76, of Muncie, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 12th, 2015 at her residence. She was born April 28th, 1939 in Muncie, and was the daughter of the late Donald & Dorothy (Hannon) Herbert.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and Aunt. She loved caring for her family and friends; she especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. Dorothy loved playing music, dancing, and singing. She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Muncie. Dorothy retired from M & M Bus Company after 26 years of dedicated service.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Edward Lewis Nixon of Muncie; two daughters Pamela Sue Dobbs of Muncie and Mary Ann Murray (Richard) of Oakville; four grandchildren, Tasha Cook (Gary) of Shepherdsville, KY, Justin Dobbs (Brittney) of Muncie, Billy Murray of Muncie, and April Apking (Dan) of Muncie; six great-grandchildren, Arianne and Tyler Eads, Zaine and Zander Murray, and Chance and Lincoln Apking; a brother Carroll Herbert (Joyce) of Parrish, FL; eight sisters Mary Stader of Muncie, Phyllis Weaver (Francis) of Muncie, Carolyn West of Muncie, Shirley Evans of Muncie, Sharon Wise (Larry) of Cleveland, TN, Linda Badders (Mike) of Daleville, Diana Lykins of Muncie, and Debbie Gross of Muncie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Chris Nixon in 2012 and two brothers Johnny and Donnie Herbert.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, August 18th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist located at 1404 West Cowing, Muncie, IN 47304 with Pastor Dwight Kruger officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 17th, 2015 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North STRD 3, Muncie.
