Obituary

Dorothy Mae Nuckols, 76, of Farmland, IN passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, early Saturday, October 10, 2009. She was born July 20, 1933 in Winchester, IN, the daughter of Charles and Reba (Kirkpatrick) Mitchell.
Dorothy had worked as an Administrative Assistant with State Farm Insurance. She was a member of the Farmland Church of the Nazarene where she was past president of Missions. Dorothy and George would often host missionary families while they were visiting. While living in northeastern Indiana, she attended Portage Nazarene Church and was on the Missionary Board. She was President of Lake Co. Cultural Arts and Crafts during the early 90's.
She enjoyed cooking, crafts, flower gardening and decorating cakes. Though she had many accomplishments, Dorothy's greatest joy and love was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, of 53 years, George; three sons, Randy (wife, Kathie) of Selma, Monte (wife, Robin) of Rochester Hills, MI and Greg (wife, Amy) of Parker City; a brother, Fred Mitchell (wife, Mary) of Sebring, FL; seven sisters, Nina Howell of Farmland, Lulabelle "Lu" Mills of Farmland, Betty Stephens (husband, Frank) of Elkhart, Rosemary Swingley (husband, Marx "Gene") of Cincinnati, Sandra Knotts of Daleville, Diana Gaultney (husband, David) of Muncie and Marsha Smith of Tuscola, IL; six grandchildren, Ashley Tow (husband, Ricky) of Portland, Jason Nuckols (fianc, Diana Stephens) of Parker, Carrie Cherry (husband, Todd) of Selma, Craig Nuckols (wife, Nicole) of Selma, Hannah Nuckols of Rochester Hills, MI and Evan Nuckols, honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN, with Pastor Rob Ferris officiating.
Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2009 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Farmland Church of the Nazarene Missions, 201 N. Morris St. Farmland, IN, 47340. Envelopes will be provided.
