Dorothy I. Simpson, age 89, of Muncie, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011. She was born July 7, 1922 in South Bend, IN to Elmer and Alma (Wiverly) Elmerick.She married Hershel (Duck) Simpson and he preceded her in death in 1993. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be very missed by those who love her.
She is survived by her son, William J. Simpson, Sr. of Muncie; daughter; Julia Vold (husband Dale) of Muncie; sisters-in-law, Eloise Adams of Ft. Wright, KY, Grace Robinette of Chicago, IL and Imogene Elliott (husband Ben) of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren, Staci Neal, Amy Grubbs (husband Mike) and William J. "Rocky" Simpson, Jr. (wife Leisa) all of Muncie; great grandchildren Allysan and Kyle Luczak, Chelsie Kirby and Gavin Grubbs, all of Muncie; special great granddaughter Sara Belarradi of Morocco, North Africa; several extended grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 26 at 10:30 AM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. The family would also like to thank Dr.Greg Gahl and the staff of Asera Care Hospice for all their assistance in the care of Dorothy.
