Douglas Wayne Cox, 73, of Muncie, died early Thursday morning, April 26, 2018 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born June 24, 1944 in McMinnville, TN and was the son of the late Edison & Sallie (Rogers) Cox.

Doug retired from Maxon Corporation in 2000 after 32 years of dedicated service, he was employed as a welder and valve builder. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Doug loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved helping and serving others, he served as a deacon and trustee to the Cowan Christian Church.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 52 ½ years Susan Mary (Deilkes) Cox of Muncie; his two children Anthony (Tony) Cox of Macon, GA and Barbara (Jeannie) Wann of Muncie; five grandchildren Jacob Wann, Rebecca Wann, Austin Cox, Jeremiah Wann, and Emily Cox; two brothers Everett Cox of Daleville and Carl Cox (JoAnn) of McMinnville, TN; four sisters Edie Jo Nunley of McMinnville, TN, Chris Manis (Earl) of Muncie, Peggy Troxell (Jerry) of Muncie and Deborah Taylor (Steve) of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Hubert Caudill(Shirley) of Dayton, OH; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death  by eight brothers and two sisters;  as well as Robert and Sally Manis.

Burial will follow funeral service in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors being provided by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Cowan Christian Church; 9600 Colfax Street, Muncie, IN 47302.
