Obituary

Earl C. Hayden,93, of Reed Station, IN passed away April 12, 2012. He was born November 7, 1918 the son of the late Harley R.Hayden and Mabel (Wasson)Childs.Earl was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Rich; three brothers, Bill, Harold and Everett Hayden. He was a US Army veteran having served from 1941 to 1945 in the South Pacific with the 38th Infantry Division during WWII. He was one of the last remaining members of "The Avengers of Batan". Earl retired as a gear cutter with Warner Gear after working 30 years. He was a member of Reed Station Christian Church, VFW Post #651 of Muncie, the UAW Local #287 and the Warner Gear Sympathy Club. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eva Mae (Pope) Hayden; children, Daniel C.(Karen)Hayden, Linda L. Luttrell;sisters, Beth Basicker and Faustine (Ron)King; grandchildren, Tracy Keeley, Dawn (Darren) Hines, Melissa (Jimmie)Gambrel, Randall (Jennifer) Hendricks, Alicia (Jaime) Mejia and Darren Hayden; great grandchildren, Brooke, Grant, Marissa, Mariah,Ethan and Austin; step great grandchildren, Jared and Ariel; a foster great grandchild, Justin; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday (4/16/12)from 6 to 8pm and one hour prior to the funeral services in Garden View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday (4/17/12)at 11am in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reed Station Christian Church or the donor''s choice.
