Earl K. Hurt, 81 of Muncie, IN passed away Tuesday July 22, 2008. He was born on May 20, 1927 in Mt. Pisgah, KY. The son of Matthew F. Hurt and Lona E. (Dobbs) Hurt. On December 14, 1957 he married Ather (Brown) Hurt whom survives him. Surviving relatives include his wife of 50 years, Ather Hurt of Muncie, IN. Two sons, Gary W. Hurt (wife Darla) of South Bend, IN, Carlos Riddle (wife Cindy) of Blountsville, IN. Two daughters, Julia Anderson (husband Kenneth "Michael") of Muncie, IN, Ronda G. Womack (husband Edward) of Yorktown, IN. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great grand children. Three brothers, Paul Hurt (wife Ina Mae) of Muncie, IN, Oedwie Hurt (wife Mary) of Muncie, IN and Larry Hurt (wife Connie) of Nashville, TN. Two sisters, Jewell Brown (husband Shermon) of Muncie, IN and Phyllis Burtrum (husband Wallace) of Monticello, IN.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and one sister Lois Burnett
Earl retired from Warner Gear in 1989 after 42 years of service. He is a member of the F & M Parker Lodge and the Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, belonged to the Union Local 287 and Warner Gear and Ball State Sympathy Club. Earl served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. Earl loved his family and friends dearly, He was a source of wisdom and strength to all that knew him, and he loved and pursued his God from 17 years old. Quick to smile and first to love, he is forever in our hearts.
Services will be Saturday July 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie IN 47303. Pastor Andrew Phipps will officiate the service. Viewing will be on Friday July 25, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home Muncie. With a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery Muncie, IN.
