Earla Devonia "Dee" Hershberger, age 90, of Avon Park, FL, formerly of Muncie, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Waters of Muncie Nursing Home. Dee was born January 24, 1921 in Muncie, IN to Ray F. and Margarite (Heath) Porter and they preceded her in death. She married Robert I. Hershberger on September 10, 1938 in Shively, KY and he preceded her in death in 1992.
She learned to play the organ in her 60''s and love to play when she could. Dee was very devoted to her Catholic faith and attended both St. Lawrence and St. Mary''s Catholic Churches in Muncie.
Dee is survived by her son, Earl Hershberger, (wife Sharon), of Avon Park, FL; grandchildren, David Hershberger, (wife Angie), of Muncie, Troy Hershberger of Muncie, Julie Brumley, (husband Tim), of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Lorie Jackson, (husband Donnie), of Tallahassee, FL; six great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brother, Raymond Porter and sister Louise Lahee.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 18, 2011 at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie, with Fr. Dennis Goth officiating. The family has requested no flowers be sent and contributions be made instead to the church of the donor''s choice.
