Edward "Eddie" Leon Besser entered into the arms of the Lord on his 89th birthday. Born September 17, 1934 in Muncie, Indiana to Floyd and Hazel Besser, he was the youngest of three children and grew up on the family farm.

A lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Eddie was an avid fisherman and gardener, and no one could beat him at basketball, playing cards, or horseshoes. Most of all though, Eddie was devoted to his family. After serving in the United States Navy Reserves, he married the love of his life, Norma Lee Besser (Lambert), and had five children. He worked for 45 years as a plant superintendent at Borg-Warner and occasionally as a carpenter and weekend mail carrier.

He is survived by his sons Randall (Lynn) Besser of Fayetteville, North Carolina and David (Bonnie Jean) Besser of Gaston, Indiana; daughters Judith (Tom) Taylor of Augusta, Georgia, Jayne (Dan) McColm of Gaston, Indiana, and Rhonda (Brooks) Biggs of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Married 60 years, his beloved wife Norma preceded him in death in 2014. He is also preceded in death by his parents Floyd Besser and Hazel Besser (Sayre); his sister Anna Alberta Daugherty, and his brother Wendell "Bud" F. Besser.

Services for Eddie will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Monday, September 25th, 2023. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow with pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Church or Community Church.
