Edna Rose Blevins Sexton, 85, died Saturday, April 11th, 2009 in Winter Park, FL.
She was born in the Big South Fork country in Elva, Scott County, TN on January 22, 1924 to Harve & Elsie Watters Blevins. She was the oldest of seven children.
In 1944, she moved to Muncie, IN with her infant son, Jerry, to find work. During WWII, she worked at the Ball Brothers plant in Muncie. She later married Hollie J Sexton, also a Scott County native, who moved to Muncie upon his return from the Army.
Edna later trained as a Beautician and was the manager of the Stillmans Department Store Beauty Salon for many years.
She was a wonderful cook and accomplished at needlecraft.
She had been Past-President of her sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and was active in the Moose Lodge. She was a member of the Old Town Hill Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and the Avondale Sympathy Club.
When Hollie died in 1979, Edna retired to their winter home in Oak Hill, FL.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Dishman (wife, Glenda), Silver Grove, KY; daughter, Linda Sexton Nusbaum (husband, Terry), Orlando, FL; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sexton, Parker City, IN; 7 grand-children, Jerry Dishman, Jr., Muncie, Andrew Nusbaum (wife, Erin), Joshua Nusbaum (wife, Shaina), and Amanda Nusbaum, all from Orlando, FL, Kristy Taylor (husband, Brent), Kari Dishman, Silver Grove, KY, Shane Sexton (wife, Amber), Fort Branch, IN; great-grandchildren, Jason & Audry Sexton, Ayden Nusbaum, and Kaileigh & Mallorie Nusbaum; sister, Mrs. Geneva McCarty; brother, Arnold Blevins, both of Muncie; brothers-in-law, Wendell Keith, Johnny Eugene Sexton (wife, Loma); sisters-in-law, Louise Terry (husband, Ronald) Peggy Bell (husband, Vernon), Clara Sexton, all of Muncie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wayne Sexton, who died in 1991.
A memorial service is being planned for later this summer to be held in Muncie, at which time burial will be at the Gardens of Memory in Muncie, IN.
