Edward William Eviston, 75, of Mooreland, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Ed was born July 8, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Edward William and Kathryn Ann (Young) Eviston. Ed worked as a supervisor at Indiana Steel and Wire for 20 plus years, retiring in 1993. He had also been a Catholic Priest five years prior to his marriage working at St. Pius X in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky and teaching English at Covington Catholic School. He was a member of St. Ann''s Catholic Church in New Castle. He enjoyed coin collecting, making jewelry, and watching the Cincinnati Reds.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Opal (Varner) Eviston; six children, Barbara Bennett of Mooreland, Sharlene Cross (husband John) of Independence, KY, Tim Urlage (wife Karen) of Mooreland, Kevin Urlage of Abilene, TX, Chris Eviston (wife Jennifer) of Muncie, and Greg Eviston (wife Monica) of Losantville; three sisters, Mary Kay Hehman (husband Roger) of Woodlawn, KY, Pam Grout (husband Ed) of Villa Hills, KY, and Terri Carl of Villa Hills, KY; two brothers, Bob Eviston (wife Barb) of Ft. Mitchell, KY and Kevin Eviston (wife Renee) of Wilder, KY; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas "Tucker", Paul, David, and Donnie Eviston.
A funeral service to celebrate Ed''s life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303, with celebrant, Father Dennis Goth. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Losantville, IN.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember two hours prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Garden View Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Blountsville - Stoney Creek Fire Department with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
