Edwin C. Hewson, 93, of Muncie, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Edwin was born August 14, 1922 in Franklin County, IN to the late Arthur and Letha (Stokes) Hewson. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Philippines during WWII. Edwin spent his life as a truck driver. Over the years he worked for Whitney Dairy, Covalt Dairy, Kraft Foods, Coulter Boiler Co., Watson Steel, and Alro Steel. Edwin was a member of the Fountain Square United Methodist Church where had served as Trustee. He enjoyed showing Dutch Rabbits and was a member of the Rabbit Club.
Edwin is survived by four sons, Kenneth Hewson of Michigan, Joe Hewson (wife Judy) of Muncie, Jim Hewson (wife Diana) of Pendleton, and Fred Hewson (wife Mary) of Muncie; 14 grandchildren, Julia, Andrea, Monica, Michele, Ryan, Mark, Beth, Sandy, Patty, Denny, Dawn, Tracy, Cathy, and Eddy; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Edwin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth (Kaster) Hewson; two brothers, Lowell and Melvin Hewson; and a sister, Florence Hall.
A funeral service to celebrate Edwin''s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Pastor Steve Graves will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, at Garden View Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Fountain Square United Methodist Church at 4405 S. Madison St., Muncie, IN 47302.
