Effie J. Blackwood of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 79 at her residence on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was born on February 14, 1942 in Summertown, Tennessee to the late Eugene and Helen (Clift) Staggs.

Effie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Indiana in 1960. She married H.G. Blackwood on December 23, 1959 in Muncie, Indiana. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and attending her grandchildren's athletic and school events. She was an angel to all who knew her.

Effie is survived by her husband of 61 years, H.G. Blackwood; children, Tamara Bell (husband, Mark), Jeff Blackwood (wife, Shelly), and Terry Blackwood; brother, Keith Staggs (wife, Karen); brothers-in-law, Tommy Blackwood, Wayne Blackwood (wife, Lynn), and Merlin Blackwood; grandchildren, Aaron Blackwood, Alexandra Blackwood, Ashley Bell (husband, Peter), Kyle Bell (wife, Courtney), and Brock Bell (wife, Mackenzie); and great grandchildren, Kohen, Deacon, and Maclaren.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Helen (Clift) Staggs and sister, Helen Marie Drown.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home.
