Eleanor Ruth Weist, 81, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on September 3, 1929 in Williamson, WV, to the late Robert Arthur and Mary Francis Colley Wooten. Eleanor graduated from Williamson High School in WV. Eleanor married her love William Frederick Weist on September 3, 1948 at Avondale Methodist Church in Muncie. And as some may remember, their wedding was the very last belling allowed in Muncie''s downtown area.
Eleanor was a homemaker for many years. She did extensive traveling with her husband and enjoyed playing golf throughout the U.S. She also league bowled for several years and loved collecting clown figurines. She was a beloved wife and mother throughout their marriage and when the grandchildren came about she fell in love with them.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William F. Weist; their children: Vicki Current (Fred) of Cowan, Jan Cheesman (Randy) of Muncie, and Mark A. Weist (Karon) of Rowlett, TX; sister-in-law Jackie Wooten of Georgia; brother Larry G. Wooten of Florida; 5 grandchildren: Amy Hudson (Greg), Andy Current (Rhonda), Jennifer Strong, Kelly Cheesman, and Amber Cheesman (Richard); 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert K. (Bobby) Wooten.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
