Gaston - Elfreda (Davis) McClurg, 94, of Gaston, IN, passed away May 14, 2009 at The Waters of Yorktown, Yorktown, IN. She was born on February 21, 1915 in Morehead, KY to the late James and Cora (Ward) Davis. On December 1, 1934 in Muncie, IN she married Lacy McClurg who preceded her in death in 1998.
Elfreda was a member of the Gaston United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking.
Surviving relatives include her two sons and one daughter, Edgar McClurg (wife: Lois) of Muncie, IN; Rodney McClurg (wife: Carletta) and Judy Thrine-McClurg all of Gaston, IN; seven grandchildren, Rick McClurg, Debby McClurg, Karen (husband: Pat) Jones, James Bales (wife: Tracy), Peggy Nelson (husband: Chris), Paula Carter, Thomas Bales (wife: Michelle); 14 great-grandchildren, Eric McClurg (wife: Tiffaney), Joel and Adam McClurg, Ryan Jones, Stuart Nelson, Dustin and Rodney Carter, Christopher, Nick, Cassie, Nathan, and Cora Bales, Amanda Evans, Brandon Evans (wife: Lacey); three great-great-grandchildren, Maci and Drake McClurg, Willow Evans, one sister-in-law, Billie McClurg of Muncie, IN and several special cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Pearl Vaughn, one brother Joe Davis.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor John Long will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be Friday May 15, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gaston United Methodist Church in memory of Elfreda McClurg.
