Ellard V. Dobbs, 81 of Muncie, IN passed from this earthly life into the arms of God on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. He was born May 18, 1930 in Stearns, KY the son of the late, J.H. and Martha (Cooper) Dobbs. Ellard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeweline (Coffey) on May 4, 2012. He also was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter,; Brenda Gail Dobbs, sisters; Edith Anderson, Evelene Wright, Belvia Winchester; brothers, Elzie, Estelle and Elbert Dobbs. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the US Army Corp of Engineers. Ellard was retired from Indiana Steel and Wire after working as a machine repairman for 33 years and was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local 1314. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Morningside, where he enjoyed playing the guitar and the autoharp. He also enjoyed being with his pet dog, Gypsie. He is survived by his three sons and one daughter, Michael L.(Tammy) Dobbs of Gaston, IN; Teddy D. (Anna)Dobbs of Gaston, IN; Terry W. Dobbs of Muncie, IN;Debra Kay (Rick)Evans of New Castle, IN; 8-grandchildren And 7-great grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Jo (Henry) Stephens, Jeweline Calhoun and a step brother, J.B. (Joyce)Watson, along with several nieces and nephews,. The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at Southern Care Hospice and also Dr. Charles Dinwiddie for all the loving care they have given to them. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Byers and Rev. Elwood Evans. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer''s Association.
