Ellen M. Flannagan, 81, of Garrett, Indiana formerly of Harford City, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana.

Ellen Was born August 6, 1932 in Dunkirk, Indiana to the late Carl and Ina (Surber) Irelan. She graduated from Harford City High School and went on to graduate from Amber''s Beauty College. She was a self-employed beautician most of her life. She also worked as a receptionist for the Blackford County YMCA. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed crafts, gardening, and had also received her pilot''s license. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert Flannagan; two daughters, Vicki Kuechenmeister (husband Chuck) of South Dakota and Cynthia Vaughn of Dunkirk; three step-children, Tammie Bonshire of Muncie, Cindy Barnhart of Indianapolis, and Michael Flannagan of Fortville; a sister-in-law, Fern Irelan of Redkey; five grandchildren, Mark Brady (fianc Amy Weber) of Avilla, Brian Brady (wife Ann) of Hartford City, Carla LaMotte (husband Chris) of Kendallville, and Jonathon and Jace Vaughn of Dunkirk; six step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a special niece, Brandy Gibson (husband John) of Boise Idaho; and several other nieces and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Irelan Jr. and Perry Irelan.

A funeral service to celebrate Ellen''s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, with Pastor Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Funeral Home.
