Ellen Lavon'' (Young) Strahan, resident of Westminster Village, 90, went to meet her Lord November 2, 2014.
She was born in Muncie Indiana and graduated as class secretary from Muncie Central High School in 1942. She married William Forrest Strahan Jr in 1945 in Denver, Colorado. Bill, her beloved husband for 66 years, preceded her in death in January 2011.
Lavon was a lifelong resident of Muncie, IN and was a member of Calvary Christian Center. Lavon retired as an executive secretary at Warner Gear (Borg Warner) in 1987, after 28 years of service. She enjoyed small group bible studies in her home, traveling, visiting her children and fishing at their lake cottage.
Lavon is survived by their children Julie (Dale) Marks of Columbus, IN; Jerry (Rebecca) Strahan of Columbia, TN; Kathy (Matthew) White of St. Charles, IL; Dick (Janie) Strahan of Andrews, NC; and Peggy (Mark) Henjum of Colorado Springs, CO. She had 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was also survived by her brothers-in-law Keith Parkison, Robert Strahan and Ted Scott; and her sisters -in-law Patty Strahan and Jean Strahan. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mildred (Saunders) Young and her sister Betty (Young) Parkison.
The funeral service will be Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Rd 3, Muncie, IN. Visitation will be from12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. preceding the funeral. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
