Elsie Mae Ragland, age 81, of Muncie, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born January 18, 1930 in Manchester, TN to Jesse Hillrie and Leatha Ann (Taylor) Cooper. She married Cordie A. Ragland on July 16, 1949 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1989. She was a member of Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene and Elsie held many jobs through the years as homemaker, seamstress, baseball stitcher, and cook. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Elsie is survived by her sons, Ronald Ragland (wife Brenda) of Gaston, Keith Ragland (wife Tammy), of Muncie and Bruce Ragland of Muncie; daughter, Gayle Ragland, of Muncie; brother, Clark Cooper, of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Dawn Burress, Shawn, Travis J., Rhiannon, Corey, and Drew Ragland; great grandchildren Logan and Baylie Clevenger and Maybree Huxhold; several nieces and nephews and her loving, special dog, Tar.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with burial to follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Muncie, IN. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to The Little Red Door Cancer Services, 401 W. Jackson St. Muncie, IN 47305 or the Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene in memory of Elsie.
