Elvan Girton, 86, of Farmland, IN died Monday April 25, 2011 at his residence in Farmland. He was born on April 10, 1925 in Winchester, IN the son of Elmer and Grace (Grow) Girton. He married Beverly Hinty Girton on December 24, 1947 who preceded him in death in 1984. On April 16, 1994 he married Elizabeth Main-Girton.
Elvan enjoyed being with his family and especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their activities. He also enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with friends at the legion in Ridgeville, IN.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Elizabeth Girton of Farmland, IN; children, Serena Stough (Steve) of Findlay, OH; Timothy Girton (Susan) of Muncie, IN; Tracy Lane and Cindy Mannia of Bristol, IN; Stepchildren, Linda (Bill) Swanson of Goodyear, AZ; Jenny Main of Winchester, IN; Glen Main (Virginia) of Parker City, IN; brothers, Kenneth Girton (Doris); Keith Girton (Billie); and Janet Collins (Richard); 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one brother, Merrill Girton; three sisters, Alberta Byrum; Betty Sipe; Marjorie Overmeyer.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday April 28, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
