Elvina Ellen DeAerts (Grandma), 86, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Ball Memorial Hospital following an brief illness.
She was born on February 17, 1924 in Summitville, Indiana the daughter of, Ralph Jesse and Nellie Maxine (Lawrence) Belzer.
In 1942 she married the love of her life, Ronald DeAerts and he preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. DeAerts had worked for the Ball Corporation and later was a self employed house cleaner.
Survivors include one daughter, LaRonna Burke (husband, Charles), Muncie; four grandchildren, Michael Shields (wife, Jennifer), Greenfield, Shelby Waters (husband, Scott), Muncie, Ronald Shields, Muncie and Amber Shields (companion, J.R. Jones), Muncie; six great grandchildren, Julie Cox (companion, Steve Richards), Muncie, Jayma Cox, Muncie, Aysha Brookes, Cowan, Brandon Shields, Tennessee, Madison Jones, Muncie, Adam Shields, Greenfield; one great great grandchild, Shea Richards- Muncie; A long time friend, Jose Gaitan.
Besides her husband she is preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Shannon Cox.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Parson Mortuary with Rev. David Delk officiating. Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
