Endia Bowden, 97, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, June 24th, 2014 at The Woodlands of Muncie. She was born September 14th, 1916 in McCreary County, KY, and was the daughter of the late Obie & Ollie (Gibson) Winchester.
Endia enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family, playing bingo, and gardening. She retired from the H.L. Hunt Company, formally Butterfield''s Canning Factory. She was a member of Full Gospel Temple, and enjoyed being in the Joy Group.
Endia is survived by her five children, Carroll Dean Bowden (Nancy Sue) of Muncie, Ernest Gene Bowden (Della Mae) of Muncie, June Charlene Benson (Toby) of New Castle, Bettie Summers of Muncie, and Virginia Young (David) of Muncie; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; a brother Jack Winchester of Strunk, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest V.; a great- granddaughter, Kayla Wallen; brothers, Bill, Hubert, Daniel, James, Bill Jr., Hubert Jr. Winchester ; sisters Odessa and Flora Gregory Meadows
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Coal Miner''s Association with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
