Ernest J. King, age 82, of Muncie, IN entered into heaven''s gates on Saturday September 19, 2015 at his residence. Born on January 16, 1933, in Jamestown, Tennessee, he was the son of Carson and Ruby (Smith) King.
Ernest proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a pipefitter at Trout''s Plumbing until his retirement in 1999.
Ernest loved going to church and regularly attended Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Muncie.
He was an avid fisherman, especially when it came to ice fishing.
Ernest also loved spending the summers at his lake cottage in Coldwater, Michigan with his family and friends, watching NASCAR, and playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mildred King of Muncie; daughters Debra (Michael) Adams of Shreveport, LA, Rebecca Hawkins of Anderson, IN, and Vicky (Bucky) Owens of Muncie; grandchildren Shane (Bianca) Adams, Brian (Gina) Adams, Mindy (Michaul) Barnett, Jacob (Sara) Owens, and Erika Owens; great-grandchildren Genevieve and Thatcher Adams; brothers Tollie (Susie) King, Horace (Patty) King, and James King, all of Jamestown, TN; sisters Florence (Louis) Davis of Muncie and Flossie (Elmo) Garrett of Livingston, TN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother Bob Matthews, and half-sister Girlden Norris.
Friends may call on Wednesday September 23, 2015 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie.
Funeral services for Ernest will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday September 24, 2015 at the funeral home, with calling one hour prior to service.
Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard.
